Lancaster NG143 crashed into the Sea of Kattegat 15/10-1944

The aircraft belonged to RAF 207 Sqn and was coded EM-R
T/o Spilsby 18:39 Op: Mining Danish waters.

 According to Airbomber F/S A.C. Smith of Halifax LV785/ZA-C of RAF 10 Sqn a Lancaster was seen going down in flames off Mariager Fjord at 21:30 hours. NG143 is the only Lancaster that it can possibly be.

The crew of Pilot F/O Dennis William Ready , Sgt Maurice Henry James Curtis, F/O Daniel Charles Bermingham RCAF, F/S Kenneth Leigh RCAF, Sgt Richard Arthur Brumwell, F/S Leslie Frank Payne and F/S Erwin Curtis Wilson RCAF have no known grave and are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
