Bf 109E crash landed near Gudum 31/7 1940

The aircraft belonged to II./ JG 77 and was coded ?
T/o Aalborg Ost.  Op: Defence of Aalborg.

Two Bf 109`s of JG 77 were sent after the Blenheim of RAF 114 Squadron that had attacked Aalborg West and it was claimed near Lemvig by Unteroffizier Otto Niemeyer of 4./ JG 77.

The other Bf 109 was damaged by return fire and belly landed in a field belonging to Trabjerggaard farm near Gudum, 10 kilometres east of Lemvig at 09:45 hours. The pilot was still sitting in the aircraft when Constable Pedersen and Head of Police Schnekloet arrived.
Doctor Thorsen was called for to examine the pilot who was able to raise his arms over the head, but was not able to move. The pilot was helped out of the aircraft and was taken to the home of Doctor Thorsen. An ambulance was called and the pilot was taken to the hospital on Lemvig for treatment.
