He 115 emergency landed in Kattegat 25/4 1940.


The aircraft belonged to 1./KFG 906 and was coded 8L+AH.
T/o Aalborg See. Op: Convoy guarding.

Two He 115 from 1./906 were patrolling along a convoy carrying troops from Frederikshavn to Larvik in Norway.

At 07:15 hrs He 115 coded 8L+AH was forced to make an emergency landing in Quadrat 4426 which in north of Skagen.

The He 115 started drifting towards south and Vorpostboot 1301 “Phönix” was sent to assistance escorted by a He 115 shortly followed by Vorpostboot 1304 and 1300.

At 13:00 hours “Phönix” had located He 115 8L+AH in quadrat 4462 and took it in tow while the aircraft crew were transferred to the Vorpostboot by a lifeboat.

The aircraft was towed towards Skagen when a U-boat warning was received and the He 115 was let loose while the crew stayed onboard the Vorpostboot.

The He 115 was shortly after secured by a Trawler from Skagen.
