Ju 52 crashed into the North Sea 9/4 1940
The aircraft belonged to 3./ KGzbV 104 and was coded ?
T/o Stavanger Op: Weserübung.
The aircraft crashed into the North Sea on a flight from Stavanger in Norway to
Stade in Germany with the loss of two crewmembers.
The body of Pilot Unteroffizier Simon Lürken was found washed ashore at
Vejers Strand beach on 8/7 1940 by Receiver of Wrecks Bloch. The body was taken
to Blochs farm and identified by the Danish police.
Apparently the body was at
first laid to rest in Aal cemetery and later moved to Kommunalfriedhof St.
Sebastian in Würselen in Germany.
Mid 22/8 1940 the body of radio operator/flight engineer Wilhelm Johannes Ewerts was found washed ashore at Emmelev in southern Jutland. The body was
collected by the German Wehrmacht and apparently brought to Germany to be buried
by the Ewerts family.
