Fw 44 serial number 2962 collided with other aircraft near Avnø 24/10 1940.


The aircraft belonged to 3. / Fl. Ausb. Rgt. 22 and was coded CO+CF.
T/o Avnø. Op: Training.


The Fw 44 collided with another aircraft in the air over Fliegerschule Avnø and was damaged 70%.

The aircraft had a two man crew who both lost their lives.

The body of Gefreiter Alfred Heinz Dietz was brought back to Germany to be buried at the Hauptfriedhof in Mannheim. Also the body of Obergefreiter Franz Gerlack was brought out of Denmark, but it is not known where he rests.
