Bf 109D serial number 465 crashed near Ulbjerg 14/1 1942.


The aircraft belonged to 3./ Jagdgruppe Drontheim (Jagdfl. Schule 3) and was coded
T/o Grove. Op: Training.


Student Pilot Gefreiter Hugo Hermetter was part of a seven aircraft flight flying at high altitude when suddenly his Bf 109 was seen to leave the formation and dive vertically into a field belonging to Farmer Jacobsen of Ulbjerg at11:50 hours.

The aircraft was a 100% loss and Hugo Hermetter was killed. He was laid to rest in Frederikshavn cemetery on 19/1 1942.
