Do 217E-4 serial number 1198 crashed in the North Sea 24/7 1942.


The aircraft belonged to II./ KG 40 and was coded F8+GP.
T/o ? Op: Feindflug.


The aircraft crashed in the North Sea on an operational flight and was a 100% loss and the crew of four died.
Pilot Oberleutnant Edgar Benscheidt, Navigator Feldwebel Ernst Klaus and Engineer Unteroffizier Georg Senft have no known graves while Wop Oberfeldwebel Rudolf Gruner was found washed ashore between the villages of Løkken and Blokhus on 14/10.
He was laid to rest in Frederikshavn cemetery on 16/10 1942.
