Do 217J serial number 1271 crashed at Fliegerhorst Grove 29/7 1942.


The aircraft belonged to4./ NJG 1 and was coded R4+IR.
T/o Grove. Op: Training.


The Do 217 was on a conversion flight when it crashed shortly after take off due to pilot failure and was 95% damaged.

The crew of Pilot Unteroffizier Kurt von Kriesten, Wop Gefreiter Walter Prohaska and Air Gnr. Unteroffizier Ferdinand Schmidt were killed in the crash and were laid to rest in Fovrfelt cemetery in Esbjerg on 1/8 1942.
