Do 217E-4 serial number 5427 crashed in the North Sea 31/7
1942.
The aircraft belonged to 7./ KG 2 and was coded U5+IR
T/o Amsterdam-Schiphol. Op: Attack on Birmingham.
During the attack on Birmingham Do 217 serial number 5427 crashed in the North
Sea with the loss of the crew of five.
Navigator Feldwebel Heinrich Kleylein, Wop Gefreiter Franz Szelinski and
Engineer Unteroffizier Kurt Puhl have no known graves.
Pilot Leutnant Gustav
Dietrich was found washed ashore on the Danish west coast on 20/9 and was laid
to rest in Fovrfelt cemetery in Esbjerg on 27/9 1942.
