Do 24T serial number 0027 crashed in Kieler Förde 11/10 1942.


The aircraft belonged to 9. Seenotstaffel and was coded CH+ES.
T/o Kieler Förde. Op: Training.


The Do 24 crashed during take off killing five crew members and injuring two.
Pilot Oberfeldwebel Paul Todte was recorded as missing but this was later changed to dead. It is not known where he rest.
Engineer Oberfeldwebel Fritz Zimmermann is recorded as missing while Wop Unteroffizier Harald Kappmeyer is recorded as dead. His resting place is not known.
Engineers Gefreiter Herbert Meck and Gefreiter Leonhard Kiessling were both injured while Student Feldwebel Mielewski died and today rest in Gdansk in Poland.
Student Obergefreiter Fritz Kalbacher was on 27/10 1942 found in the Baltic Sea near Langeland and brought to Bagenkop. He now rest in København Vestre cemetery.

The aircraft was 85% damaged.
