Do 217J-1 serial number 1269 crashed at Fliegerhorst Grove 10/11 1942.


The aircraft belonged to 10/ NJG 3 and was coded D5+FV.
T/o Grove. Op: Test flight.


Pilot Oberfeldwebel Rudolf Blutbarsch experienced a engine failure during a test flight after maintenance and emergency landed the Do 217 at Fliegerhorst Grove at 16:16 hours.

The Do 217 was 90% damaged while Blutharsch, Wop Feldwebel Gerhardt Böhm, Air gunner Unteroffizier Adolf Fleschner and Prüfmeister Unteroffizier Theodor Krämer were all wounded at taken to Hald Lazarett.

A civilian died from the crash, but it is not known if he was on board the aircraft or if he was hit by it.

On 13/11at 02:55 hours Rolf Blutharsch passed away due to broken ribs. He was laid to rest in Frederikshavn cemetery on 17/11 1942.
