Bf 110G-2 serial number 5668 crashed at Store Torøje 9/10
1943.
The aircraft belonged to 8./ NJG 2 and was coded R4+AD.
T/o ? Op: Feindflug.
Pilot Leutnant Heinz Knittel and the aircraft crashed in a field belonging to
Farmer H. J. Josefsen of Store Torøje 9 kilometres southwest of Store Heddinge on
the island of Sjælland at 15:35 hours killing Knittel and damaging the Bf 110
100%.
Today Leutnant Knittel rest in København Vestre cemetery.
It is believed that Wop Unteroffizier Christian Klapper bailed out but landed in
the Baltic Sea and drowned. He have no known grave.
