Bf 110G-4 serial number 720083 crashed near Drostrup 15/2 1944.

The aircraft belonged to Stab IV/ NJG 1 and was coded G9+GE.
T/o Leeuwarden. Op: Feindflug.

The Bf 110G-4 operated by the crew of Pilot Leutnant Georg Fengler, Wop Unteroffizier Alfred Meissner and Air gunner Unteroffizier Willi Hertelt crashed in a field belonging to Farmer Johannes Madsen in Drostrup north of Vejen at 23:00 hours.
The crew had managed to bail out before the crash and landed in Vejen Marsh but were all injured.

The aircraft was seen to be on fire coming from the east and crashed about 50 metres west of the farm house and was a 100% loss.
It damaged a poultry house and broke through a field dyke to end up in the adjoining field and was destroyed.
It appears that it had been hit by return fire from an English bomber.
