Ju 88A-4 serial number 2457 crashed near Hjallerup 17/5 1944.


The aircraft belonged to 13./ KG 30 and was coded 4D+DX.
T/o Aalborg West. Op: Training.


His JU 88 was attacked by a Mustang piloted by F/Sgt Williams of 65 Squadron RAF and headed towards northeast. The crew bailed out when the aircraft was over Stagsted and the empty plane headed towards Try Rosenby and the local school where the children were in the classroom. About 100 metres before it hit the house the right wing touched the ground and it crashed south of the building at 12:15 hours.

One crew member landed southwest of Stagsted while three members landed in the village of Stagsted. Navigator Obfhr. Frits Schwieder and Gunner Unteroffizier Gustav Bayerl were serious wounded and admitted to the Luftwaffe Orts Lazarett Aalborg. Wop Gefreiter Heinz Kutschenreiter was lightly wounded and taken to Krankenrevier Fliegerhorst Aalborg West while the pilot was unharmed.

The aircraft was a 100% loss.
