Bf 110G-4 serial number 5479 crashed in the North Sea 17/8
1943.
The aircraft belonged to 12./ NJG 1 and was coded G9+FZ.
T/o Leeuwarden. Op: Feindflug.
The Bf 110 was attacked by a Beaufighter operated by Pilot F/O H. E. White and
Radar operator F/O M. S. Allan of 141 Squadron RAF and crashed in the North Sea
north of Leeuwarden.
Pilot Leutnant Gerhard Dittmann was found washed ashore near Leeuwarden and was
laid to rest in Noorder Begraafplaats in Leuwarden, Netherlands. On 24/11-1958
he was reburied in Usselsteyn, Netherlands.
Wop/Radar operator Unteroffizier Theophil Bundschu was found washed ashore on the island of Mandø
on 28/9. He was laid to rest in Fovrfelt cemetery in Esbjerg on 4/10 1943.
The Bf 110 was a 100% loss.
